This informal reception introduced guests to the main concepts behind Fit Home, a unique partnership between housing, NHS Highland and social enterprise, which, supported by academic research, showcases a collaborative solution to wellness in the digital age.
Developed through co-design with partners, potential tenants and health and care professionals, this ground-breaking approach combines modular home design and ‘Internet of Things’ technology, with the aim of preventing episodes or events leading to ill health and enabling more people to live independently in their communities for longer.
This year’s winner of the Saltire Society Award for Innovation in Housing, the Fit Home and its affordable social enterprise model is replicable throughout Scotland, the UK and globally, delivering a truly innovative solution that puts the customer first and directly addresses inequality and growing healthcare challenges.
